When can I get Firstday Healthcare?

What devices do you use to provide wireless monitoring?
We provide three types of sensors. For heart rate, respiratory rate, and skin temperature we use the Vivalink ECG device. For saturation and pulse rate we use the Owlet BabySat or the Aulisa Guardian Angel. For axillary temperature we use the Vivalink temperature patch.
What device will my infant need?
Each infant’s use case is different and may benefit from a single device or a combination of options.
Are the devices FDA approved?
Yes. All devices we use are FDA approved and require a doctor’s prescription.
Will Firstday Healthcare be covered by my insurance?
For now Firstday Healthcare is offered as a service paid by parents.
How will I be charged for the service?
Fees consist of a one-time device fee, with a partial refund when sensors and the Android tablet are returned, plus a monthly subscription for the service.
Will Firstday Healthcare be able to replace my pediatrician?
No. We partner with your pediatrician and your infant’s other physicians, specialists, and therapists to help coordinate care and give them access to vital-sign and medical-record data.
How am I able to receive vital sign alerts?
Vital signs are visible on the bedside tablet, in the parent phone app, and in the command center. Alerts trigger audio on the bedside tablet, audio in the command center, and SMS texts, so the parent app does not need to be open. Patented heart-rate algorithms from HERO Score can also flag issues before they become evident.
What am I to do if I receive an alert?
The command center is there to support you. Vital-sign changes that trigger an alarm are often self-resolving or may need mild stimulation, as in the NICU. If a change becomes clinically significant, the team helps you start CPR while EMS is initiated so you can focus on your infant. Parents of NICU graduates are often taught CPR before discharge.
